It is finally starting to feel like spring! All that is left of the snowman Audrey and I built is a stick (he lost his other arm in a fight with a drunk person). I have been wanting to do monthly favorites, but obviously that hasn’t happened. So, here are some of the products I have been loving throughout my least favorite season.
I got this Clarisonic Mia 2 from my parents for Christmas. It is an investment, but so worth it. I’ve been wanting a Clarisonic for quite some time. It gets deep into your pores to really cleanse your skin. I have combination skin, with a occasional breakouts. If my skin isn’t hydrated enough, it is either very oily, or dry and flakey. When I first got my Clarisonic I was, of course, totally obsessed with it. I used the sensitive brush and washed my face twice a day with it. After the initial shock to my skin, where you turn into a total pizza face, I have cut back my use to a couple times a week. I have less break outs, and the texture of my skin is much softer. If you are a person who takes very good care of your skin, I would highly recommend a Clarisonic, and the Mia 2 just happens to come in tons of colors and is generally adorable.
Another Christmas present! My brother works in sales for Aesop, and at Thanksgiving my Dad visited him out in LA. Sye took our Dad to the shop he works at, and that is how I ended up with a bunch of full size products. (Thanks guys!) Aesop is high end, and while I would love to be able to regularly buy high end products, I don’t. Receiving these products was a real treat. Aesop carries products for every skin type. These are the products my brother recommended for mine, and I LOVE them. They all feel light and refreshing on my skin. I have noticed, since using Aesop and the Clarisonic, a significant difference in my skin. From over texture, to less breakouts, to a more even skin tone.
This has been my go-to combination for foundation over the winter. My skin has been all over the place, from using new products, to just generally hating winter. I wanted something that would be the least heavy on my skin. I start by using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer. I apply this under my eyes using my fingers. Then using the Sigma f86, I buff it out under my eyes, and then take the excess to cover any redness around my nose, on my chin, and in the center of my forehead. Next I use my Sigma f80 and my Bare Minerals Matte foundation. Honestly, these two products are not the perfect combination, but my goal for winter was to work on my skin as a whole, so I didn’t want to invest much into products that I might not use after I found my perfect skin balance.
This is my favorite gel eyeliner of all time. I used to struggle using gel liner, which was 100% due to using crappy brushes. The brush in this picture is actually a liquid liner from Victoria Secret that ran out a while ago. I love the felt tip brush though, so I continue to use it, just dipping it in the gel liner pot.
Everyone knows I’m obsessed with eyebrows. I had previously been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, but after the suggestion of several friends that have amazing brows, I have switched the Dip Brow. The Dip Brow is a little bit more challenging as you are using a brush instead of a pencil. ABH sells a brush, but it’s $18.00, so I decided to try this Ardell brush instead. You need them both. Anastasia Dip Brow in soft brown, and the Ardell Duo Brow Brush. Yah need em.
Jaclyn Hill is my absolute favorite beauty YouTuber. Honestly, if Jaclyn Hill says it’s amazeballs, it is, and I want it. Several months ago she went on raving about how amazing these eye shadows by Morphe were. A couple months later she collaborated with them to create this steal of a frickin’ deal, palette. The Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette is now my go to palette on a daily basis. This palette has warm and cool tones, shimmers and mattes, and neutral and bold colors. It is out of stock right now, but it should be restocked soon. If you are wanting to grow your makeup collection without investing a lot of money, Morphe is the way to go. By far the highest quality product you can by at the lowest price. So good.
I’ve been trying to wear more lipstick lately. Usually what happens is I put it on in the morning, and then forget it at home, and thus by the afternoon, I am no longer wearing lipstick. Oops. Right now my favorite is this Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in number 104. The formula is smooth, and stays on as long as you don’t rub it off while your chowin’ down on your lunch. The other lipstick is Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Supermodel (I think, I forgot both of them at home and I’m writing this post at work). This lipstick is so pretty on the lips, but it feels not so great. It’s very waxy. I actually wouldn’t recommend it, but I love the color so much that I had to mention it. I just keep subjecting myself to it’s candle-like texture.
Around Thanksgiving I cut about 6 inches off my hair. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be taking another 2 or 3 off, and getting some funky color put in. But for now, this OGX Sea Salt Spray is my favorite to add texture and waves. It smells amazing, and since is has Moroccan argan oil in it, I like to think it is helping to keep my hair healthy as well. The other product I’ve been using more is this Regis Powder Boost Volumizer. I’m not actually sure they still make this, and if they did you’d have to buy it at the salon. I’ve had this since 2010. Is that totally gross? Do hair products made of powder go bad? It still gives me volume and texture, so I’m going to keep using it, even if it is gross.
I hope you enjoyed this favorites post. What were your favorites during winter? Is there anything I must have for spring?
